Cabarrus Bank & Trust Honors Teacher of the Year
and Outstanding Business

Tuesday, May 8th 2007 - Albemarle, NC - Cabarrus Bank & Trust honored Cabarrus County’s Teacher of the Year Susan Deaton recently at the company’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders. Ms. Deaton teaches English at Central Cabarrus High School in Concord.

“Teachers have a special mission of helping mold and encourage our children to be what they can be, to dream big dreams and realize those dreams,” said Alex Rankin, Cabarrus Bank & Trust’s Board of Directors’ Chair, who recognized Ms. Deaton. “Susan chose teaching after her 11th grade teacher, Vicky Honeycutt, made such an impact on her life. Ms. Honeycutt believed in Susan and made her feel unlimited in what she could accomplish as a young woman. This continues today in what Susan now instills in her own students. Ms. Deaton aspirations are to create an atmosphere in which her students are motivated and realize their potential. Susan would rather risk asking too much than too little. Susan states “Asking too little is an insult and disservice. Asking much shows that I believe in their wherewithal.” Susan also is the speech / debate teacher and volleyball coach."
