and Outstanding

Tuesday, May 8th 2007 - Albemarle, NC - Bank of Stanly honored Stanly County’s Teacher of the Year Lisa Chandler recently at the company’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders. Mrs. Chandler teaches at Kendall Elementary School.
“Teachers have a special mission of helping mold and encourage our children to be what they can be, to dream big dreams and realize those dreams,” said Mark Mabry, Bank of Stanly’s Board of Directors’ Chair, who recognized Mrs. Chandler. Lisa Chandler chose teaching because it is a profession in which she could invest in the lives of children, influencing and impacting them in a positive way to help create a better community and world. Lisa teaches academically and intellectually gifted students because they have unique needs. Without proper emotional and social support, as well as a challenging curriculum, intellectually gifted children can suffer. Each gift whether intellectual, artistic, athletic, music or interpersonal is of value. Lisa’s philosophy for teaching is “Everyone is gifted only on different subjects.”

Bank of Stanly also recognized Rolling Hills Gin of Albemarle as its 2007 Outstanding Business. “Rolling Hills Gin has been in business since 1996” said Bill Lawhon, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Stanly. “Rolling Hills Gin services 18,000 acres of cotton grown in Stanly County and surrounding counties such as Anson, Richmond, Union, Cabarrus, Rowan and Iredell counties and as far away as Chester S.C. They are making a difference in the community by providing good jobs and by helping create community wealth right here at home.”
Bank of Stanly presented Mrs. Lisa Chandler a monetary gift and a desk clock frame which featured an original piece of art depicting Mrs. Chandler’s area of teaching. Rolling Hills Gin was presented a grandfather wall clock.
